Unit 7 Blog

In listening to Meeting Aescleplus, my mind is focused on my grandmother. She is the person who introduced and put me on the path to my spiritual training. She taught me how to look inside at my heart,, about loving-kindness, the importance of knowledge because it breeds wisdom. My Nana was a grand madame with such poise and elegance.  Born and bred in Barbados, West Indies,  you could not tell her that she was not an English lady. She and I had very long talks about everything. I was my mother's only child and her only grandchild.  Both my mother and grandmother taught me about sharing and treating others with respect something I have carried throughout my life. Whenever I think of either of them, it brings such memories that I can feel myself smiling from inside out. Even when scolded, I always knew it was for my best interest. It also made me think before I acted and more than likely saved me from a lot of trouble. Our house was open to all so we always had a cast of characters. Nothing bad but interesting. Nana was like the block guru, lending an ear or a helping hand.  I really loved my childhood and feel so very blessed for the positive influence that set the foundation of who I am today.

  1. Iris,
I think it is wonderful that you have true motivation behind applying what we are learning to everyday life. Most of what we are learning are basic lessons that we learn in life but what is important is learning how to take these lessons and incorporate them into actual exercises. It is strange how we can learn about stress managment but not actually apply it in our lives. I think it is great that you have such positive memories attached to such exercsies to motivate you to continue to do them. It can only help you.
